Vinyl and Velvet is dedicated to discussing real vintage vinyl records and musical theater. Music is powerful on an individual and social level. Some songs have changed the world, some may just change our perspective on one small, simple idea. V&V’s number one goal is to delve into vintage records on every level from aesthetic appreciation to emotional impact.
While the main focus is vinyl, there are a lot of records out there that feature songs from musicals. (This is especially true in records from the 1940’s through the 1960’s.)
My secondary goal is to explore the impact these two art forms have on each other and the viewer/listener from the perspective of an audience member of our modern time period. Here I will discuss their meaning, their aesthetic value, and their place in our lives.
